Keeping your pet’s mouth clean is vital to their health and well-being. By practicing good oral hygiene habits and checking in with us at least once a year so we can evaluate their health status, you can help your pet avoid problems such as gingivitis and gum disease. Services We Offer

Our veterinarians and technicians can utilize the following services to help you maintain your pet’s teeth and gums:

  • Oral exams

  • Pre-dental bloodwork

  • Digital, full-mouth X-rays

  • CT dental imaging

  • Teeth cleaning with ultrasonic scaler

  • Teeth polishing (to smooth tooth surface and prevent buildup of plaque)

  • Tooth extractions

Pre-Dental Blood Work

All dental procedures are performed while patients are under general anesthesia, because we have to clean both above and below their gum line, and extractions may be needed. To minimize risk and ensure your pet is in good health before their dental cleaning, we need to do preliminary blood work to check for internal problems.

When A Cat or Dog Teeth Cleaning Is Necessary

We generally recommend that your pet have their first professional dental cleaning between two and three years old. The symptoms listed below could also indicate when a cleaning is needed:

  • Bad breath

  • Excessive drooling

  • Red, swollen gums

  • Loose or broken teeth

  • Teeth that are highly discolored (yellow or brown)

  • Dropping food from mouth

  • Swelling around the face

  • Pawing at face and mouth

Lack of appetite is not a solid indicator that your pet is having mouth problems; many pets will likely continue eating as normal despite the discomfort they’re experiencing. Pets hide their pain well, which is why it is so important to pay close attention to their everyday behaviors and make note of any unusual changes.
